September is childhood cancer awareness month

Sep 5, 2022

In April 2022, the team at EVConnectors first met, Sean Geiser & Darryl Thole at the #fullychargedshow. To say we were overcome with emotions after hearing their story and what they are going to achieve, would be an understatement. The powerful connection and the need to become part of their team was overwhelming. We instantly knew that we as individuals and the team at EVCONNECTORS wanted to support them in every possible way.

On 12 December 2022 Darryl & Sean will be entering the world’s toughest ocean rowing race. They will be rowing unassisted across the 3000 miles of Atlantic Ocean between La Gomera, Canary Islands and English Harbour, Antigua. They will be faced with all that mother nature has to offer and they will succeed.

This is an epic challenge which will see them rowing 24 hours a day in 2-hour shifts until they reach the finish, but this is certainly a challenge that they feel their up for.

They have confidence in themselves, their boat and their preparations, and nothing will get in the way of them completing a journey that so few before them have done. And hopefully in the process, raising an enormous amount of money for their charities.

September is childhood cancer awareness month.

'As a mother of 2 beautiful little girls, i can’t even start to imagine how as a family we would ever get through the pain and fight of this horrible disease. To have to tell my children that they couldn’t play outside and be with their friends, to see them go through the pain, tears, heartache & uncertainty, because of this horrible disease, is just something I pray my family never has to go through'. written by Michelle White

Whilst September is childhood cancer awareness month, please take a moment through your busy lives to think about families who are having to fight this horrible disease. Spare a thought for the children who aren't able to go out and play with their friends, or are so violently ill after enduring chemotherapy, or after fighting with everything they have, lose their battle.

Please think of how difficult it must be to be in a position where you are so helpless and can’t even make your child better with a big hug. To all of the families who are fighting this together. To all of the children who soldier on through the pain and the endless treatments. To the brave young souls who we have lost. To all of you who have been impacted by childhood cancer, EVCONNECTORS & TWO-INNA-ROW offer you all of our positive thoughts and prayers, to help you get through the difficult times, and if there is absolutely anything that we can do to help, then all you have to do is ask. Childhood cancer is a horrible horrible disease. It needs to end.

You can help with this fight by supporting Sean & Darryl in their efforts to raise awareness.

We're doing all that we can for you, so keep fighting. We're in your corner

Insert alt tag here Sean Geiser Born, raised, schooled & educated in South Africa, I have always been a waterman, from surfing, spearfishing, diving, boating & my time in the Navy, my life has always been centered around the ocean. In 2012, my wife was diagnosed with cancer, & through the treatment, care & subsequent triumph over this battle, I realized that no matter how insurmountable a situation may seem to a person in that specific given moment of crisis, anything is possible with belief, perseverance & determination. My wife taught me what pure grit & mental fortitude were & are. Having lived in Antigua between late 2017 to early 2021, I have been intrigued & exposed to The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge event finish, culminating in hosting Grant Blakeway (who was one of the solo entrants in the 2020 event) & his wife Adri. Not only have they become dear friends, but also allowed me to purchase Grant’s boat & the rest is history, as they say.

Why am I doing the TWAC? Today my wife lives cancer-free, & because of this triumph, along with my passion for the ocean I decided to embark on this epic voyage and challenge, not only in honor of her, but to challenge myself in an environment which I love, but for which I also have the utmost respect, & to raise awareness of the daily plight that normal families like you & I are forced to live with when affected by this terrible disease.

Insert alt tag here Darryl Thole When I was 16 years old I fractured my back in two places while playing rugby. Ever since I have been challenged with back pain, which over the years has gotten progressively worse to the point where it became debilitating and general day to day activities were extremely challenging. I have had to build up enormous mental strength to deal with the constant pain. After trying every treatment under the sun, short of surgery, I took up exercise. I found that by exercising and strengthening my core it helped ease the pain and since then I have found myself constantly pushing my limits to prove I can do things, no matter the obstacle. This determination and focus on goals has provided some pretty special challenges to me. In 2016 I challenged myself to get my pilots license. Which I completed in 2017. After having never run a day in my life, in 2017 I challenged myself to run a marathon, and in 2018 I completed the Paris Marathon. Not happy with my time I decided to do it again in 2019. The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge is my next test.

Why am I doing the TWAC? Its not often you get offered an opportunity to do something as incredible as this, so when Sean suggested the ultimate physical and mental challenge, I just couldn’t say no. The chance to test yourself to the limit and beyond was just too tempting
